On December 27, 2019, Zhang Yueguo, President of the GZASS, led a delegation to the command center of the “vegetable basket” platform in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to carry out an in-depth survey, learning in details the development and operation of the platform through introductions, on-site exchanges, and field surveys, etc.
As a public welfare, authoritative, fair and open service platform jointly built by Guangzhou with Hong Kong, Macao Special Administrative Region and relevant brother cities, the “food basket” platform of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ensures the availability of more safe and high-quality agricultural products for the market in the Greater Bay Area, which contributes to the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao and smooth fulfillment of the development goal of the Greater Bay Area. Zhang Yueguo said that GZASS should give full play to the advantages of new urban think tank, and the research departments such as Institute of Economics, Institute of Regional Economics and Institute of Modern Market Studies should establish data and information communication mechanism with the command center, strengthen studies on standard system, circulation mechanism and cooperation mode, so as to provide intellectual support for the development of the “vegetable basket” platform in the Greater Bay Area and boost the development of the area.
It is informed that the “vegetable basket” platform in the Greater Bay Area, committed to “establishing strong presence in Guangzhou, connecting with Pan-Pearl River Delta development, serving the bay area, boosting the mainland and going global”, compliant with quality and safety standards for Hong Kong and Macao as its benchmark and oriented to “green food” as its quality direction, strives to provide more excellent agricultural products with greater nutritional benefits from better ecological environment for the market, and promotes quality and safety standards and quality level of edible agricultural products supply in the bay area. Since its inception in September 2019, the platform has been in stable and orderly operation, ensuring the steady flow of safe and quality agricultural products to Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland.
