The Darwin awards are really aimed at deliberate actions with un-intended accidents, often causing humorous results.
Several clips on there weren’t due to stupidity, just accidents like the rocket launch.
Other clips on there were totally misleading, like the clip at 4:40 of the train crash. That wasnt an accident or stupidity, that’s actually footage of crash tests to see how metal carriages behave. This was decades ago when metal carriages had long replaced wooden ones, however people were still dying in real accidents. Testing carriages like this helped develop crumple zones, just as it has done in the automotive sector, making transport safer.
Well, the ambiguous explosions and unmanned rocket catastrophes towards the end don’t fit in with the rest of the video, but as for the others, great collection of examples of natural selection at work!!

Okay, so you managed to give the accurate description of what the Darwin Awards are, yet didn’t bother to realize that this video is clearly in no way associated with them since it doesn’t follow those rules remotely? This is mainly made up of stupid people hurting themselves or others, disasters, and people getting hurt through no fault of their own. In no way does that qualify for any Darwin Awards. They need to end up dead of unable to reproduce, although they do have honorable mentions for the people who nearly achieved that goal through extreme stupidity, but those are rare, not the majority. Also this video includes the footage of the two burglars hitting themselves in the head with rocks bounced off the window which is a staged television commercial. The Darwin Awards requires careful citation and evidence before creating an award, and they would have disqualified this one within minutes of looking into it.
It’s a great compilation of videos, but your description is false advertising and continues to perpetuate a concept that fills the internet with false information. This is just the video version of those e-mail chain letters we’ve all gotten.
Not true Darwin Awards, most of those people survived. Second, showing space vehicles blowing up is really bad taste. Besides that, great vid.
Ok, some of these were no fault of the victims. I agree that some deserved it because they were doing stupid shit, but some did nothing wrong and the fact that you say this may make my day better…. you’re a piece of shit. Yeah, not all are Darwin Awards winners but you gotta admit some are good candidates as the title says it. For those who wish me to die and get caught on tape, well, if I can make somebody laugh I guess it’s a good death. At least I’m useful after death too. I don’t personally think all accidents in the movie are funny or because of stupidity, and yeah, some are unfortunate accidents. I didn’t make the compilation, just posted it on my site because some of the accidents are indeed stupid. If you like it that’s great, if not I don’t really care.

now seriously, 9/11 was a shitty day but it was like that because OUR people died that day. every day people get killed around the world, woman get raped, children die of hunger, loose their parents, etc. And 99% of US citizens don’t give a fuck. And 99% of the world didn’t gave a fuck about 9/11. I’m sorry about the people who died that day as I am sorry for people who die every day for whatever reason. I was not terrified on 9/11 because I think it was a natural thing that had to happen. We’ve been protected by our geographical position and that’s why we didn’t get hit by any enemy. So most people thought we’re untouchable. Learn history before you make comments about 9/11 and make a big deal of it. I’m sure I’m going to make a lot of enemies for saying this but 9/11 was not a big deal. It was a big deal for us because we’re not used to get fucked by others. Watch a video of a child broken in half by a shell, dying in his father’s arms and you won’t find the people jumping from the towers as shocking. Search youtube and see videos of “insurgents” getting “wasted” and read the comments. There are folks that find that funny.
Yeah this “darwin awards candidates” has some really sad scenes in it but others are plain stupid - you don’t look in a fucking gas tank using a lighter. And other are just as sad. I haven’t made that compilation, just found it to be an interesting watch (not necessarily funny). Oh, and don’t think I have a problem with your opinion. It’s yours and I respect it. This is my opinion, though.
